There are still many communication drivers (e.g. for PLC’s) implemented as DDE servers. MS Excel and actually also other applications from different vendors can communicate over DDE. Therefore, we have decided to implement new DDE client as enhancing Dll for both OpcDbGateway and SAEAUT UNIVERSAL OPC Server. (Please see new white paper to that.) Doing it, we tried to provide high productivity by configuring although thousands of DDE items, and, in the same time, high flexibility to be able to configure it for different types of DDE functionality. Using it, you will be able to create e.g. different dashboards in MS Excel, to concentrate data from many DDE servers and promote it over OPC client or OPC server interfaces, provide complex handling, logging and alarming of DDE data.
